Hayden's Tepig is a Pokemon owned by Hayden. It was traded from Ramirez for his Scraggy.

Character[]

In its debut, Tepig was a stubborn Pokemon that had no intent in listening to any of its attacks and temporarily listened to Hayden during a battle with Team Magma. It is also very gluttonous by eating lots of spicy and sweet foods depending on its personality.

Since it saw that Hayden actually cared for him, Tepig managed to listen to Hayden again, thus gaining a liking towards its trainer which can help in its future battles with him.

History[]

With Ramirez[]

Tepig first appeared in PBW073 under the ownership of a man named Ramirez. It then attacked Hayden and friends as a threat until Electivire stopped it with a Wild Charge. Ramirez told them that Tepig is a stubborn Pokemon who is very disobedient towards its trainer. Hayden then confirmed that his Scraggy needed someone to stay with for a long time and considers a trade. But after saving it from Team Rocket, Tepig temporarily listens to Hayden and defeats them with a powerful Flamethrower. Hayden trades Scraggy and now owns Tepig.

With Hayden[]

In PBW074, Tepig went right back on disobeying him during their training for the Mistralton Gym and uses Flame Charge and Tackle on him. Zack confirmed that Tepig only listened to Hayden due to seeing his change temporarily when it was kidnapped. But its attitude towards Hayden changed when he showed three different sacrifices:When Jerry's Swoobat used Air Slash, he protected the Fire Pig by covering it with his back. The second is when he jumped in the river to save Tepig from drowning, and the third when jumped off a cliff for Tepig and was caught with Electivire. he listened and obeyed Hayden, finally accepting its new trainer. When it battled Hayden's Golett, it managed to defend itself from Golett's Shadow Punch, Earthquake, and Focus Punch while activasting Blaze and using a powerful Flamethrower attack on it, winning the battle itself.

Hayden used Tepig during his fourth battle with Cheren in Route 6. After seeing it clear that he was ready to battle, he was surprised when he was against Cheren's Pignite, an evolved form of his species. With its attacks powered by Blaze, Tepig managed to use all its powerful strength to defeat the Fire Pig Pokemon with a powerful Heat Crash.

Moves Improvised[]

  • Flame Charge-Tackle was used during Tepig's battle with Golett. The move powered up Tepig Tackle while protecting it from Golett's Shadow Punches.
  • Flamethrower Charge is a combination of Flamethrower and Flame Charge. While deflecting itself from Golett's Shadow Balls, Tepig used Flame Charge on itself while controling it with Flamethrower, then slamming with an extra power boost from its Blaze ability.

Trivia[]

  • Tepig is Hayden's second Fire-type Pokemon that wasn't caught or obtained in the wild.
  • Tepig is also Hayden's second Fire-type Starter Pokemon that already learned Flamethrower prior to debut.
